Working Towards The Future

E

ducation for Tomorrow Alliance is partnering with companies throughout Montgomery County and beyond willing to invest in the future workforce. The Student Internship Program (SIP) matches companies with rising 12th grade students for short-term internships at companies of all sizes. Students gain first-hand knowledge of one profession that interests them, including the daily responsibilities and skills required. EfTA is currently signing up partners willing to host one or more students for two-week terms during Summer 2024. “Students can learn about a profession from books or online resources, but there is nothing like immersing themselves in the workplace to help them explore possibilities,” according to EfTA President Monica Bomkamp Enia. “This program allows students to make connections in a field and learn about the paths to different jobs. In addition, they get to practice power skills like communication, networking, and tools like Excel. The investment by our business partners has great potential for shaping students’ choices!” Internships in all fields are needed, including business, engineering, medicine, and more, with the greatest demand for STEM internships. The program kicks off in June. To learn more about the requirements or to sign up to host an intern, visit the SIP Mentor Landing Page on the EfTA website, efta-us.org. Education for Tomorrow Alliance is a nonprofit organization dedicated to cultivating education and community partnerships that advance student success. With innovative programs focused on science, technology and career preparation, EfTA is the portal through which business leaders can access and strengthen local education. efta-us.org
